I use a monthly calendar as my EAS Log. This is an 8 1/2 x 11 page with boxes
for each day of the month. I then review the EAS tapes each week and fill in
the activities of each day. This makes it easy to see and check each calendar
week for the proper activities. When I sign the calendar each week, it then
becomes the "Official EAS Log". At the end of the month I then staple the paper
tapes, operator logs, etc, to the back of the calendar and file it. The
calendar is then the official log with the extra paper tapes and logs as
supporting paperwork.
You may find or have a better system of logging. I find the use of a calendar
works best for me. If inspected I can show it to the inspector, and there is
all the info on one page for the whole month. It's easy to see what happened
on each day and each week. If questioned the paper tapes are attached so it's
all there.
Some stations have operators fill out a transmitter log. They then have the
operator write EAS events on this log and staple each days tape to the back of
the log. This is ok as long as the Chief Operator signs each log. I don't
care for this approach. If, I am inspected and the inspector asks to see the
EAS log, I don't want to show him the transmitter logs unless he/she
specifically asks for them. It also makes it difficult to check for all the
timing of the weekly calendar stuff.
